The Effect of Wetting Agents on Infiltration1

R. E. Pelishek, J. Osborn and J. Letey2

ABSTRACT

Laboratory studies conducted on the effect of wetting agents on infiltration rates indicated that (1) a wetting agent can increase infiltration rates into hydrophobic soils but have either no effect or adverse effects on soils which are not particularly hydrophobic; (2) the wetting agents used in the study produced a beneficial residual effect; and (3) the wetting agent is not completely leached from thatch.
