Exchange Adsorption of 3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole by an Organic Soil1

ABSTRACT

Adsorption of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole by soil organic matter is greatly reduced by increasing pH. The main adsorped species is the aminotriazolium cation formed by protonation of the adsorbed molecule, but some direct physical adsorption of the latter also occurs. The aminotriazolium cations are adsorbed more strongly than sodium ions, and can be fully displaced by exchange with calcium ions.
