Correlations of Soil pH and Percent Base Saturation as Influenced by Soil-Forming Factors1

D. L. Blosser and Hans Jenny2

ABSTRACT

Eighty soils collected more or less at random over a large area gave very low correlations between soil pH and percent base saturation. In the same area, soils chosen according to soil-forming factor ordinations gave very high correlations between the two soil properties. Climate was the dominant determining factor.
