Steady-State Seepage in a Hillside1

G. C. A. Morin and A. W. Warrick2

ABSTRACT

The complex potential function is obtained for two-dimensional seepage of water through a hillside using conformal transformations. Two cases are considered: In the first a straight slope of finite length intersects an infinitely wide horizontal plane; in the second, a horizontal plane of finite width is between two symmetric hillsides. Flow nets and graphical relations characterize the flow patterns.
