Rate of Phosphorus Sorption by Five Oklahoma Soils1

Carl G. Enfield2

ABSTRACT

Two equations are evaluated in relation to their suitability as rate equations for phosphorus sorption by selected Oklahoma soils. The rate equation which best fits experimental data was {partial}S/{partial}t = aCbSc where S is the sorbed concentration [mass per unit weight of the soils], C is solution concentration [mass per unit weight of the solution], t is time and a, b, and c are constants.
