ABSTRACT
A core-type bucket auger was modified to fit the drive bar of a hydraulic soil probe with a rotor head. This auger satisfactorily samples claypan, fine-textured and moderately fine-textured soils in a wet condition. The auger system can readily be used alternately with tube core samplers.
