ABSTRACT
Fluorine content increases with depth, evidently in response to pH-related absorption of F that has weathered from minerals in all size fractions of the upper solum. This relationship with soil colloids creates depth distribution characteristics of F that closely follow soil development trends that are especially well expressed by clay content. Fluorine attributed to organic matter in A and B horizons amounted to 9 µg/g of organic matter.
